The  Mountain Leader Summer award  provides a Nationally recognised leadership award for those who wish to lead groups into the mountains of the UK in summer conditions or train and supervise more remote Duke of Edinburgh Award Gold expeditions. To attend a summer ML training you should be a committed hill walker with 12 months or twenty Quality Mountain Days  (QMD’s) experience.

Check out this  link to Mountain Training website and  short vimeo clip explaining the Mountain Leader Summer award.

For ML assessment you need a minimum of 40 QMD’s in three areas of the UK (or three distinct areas of Scotland)  ,  8 nights camping, at least 4 of which should be high mountain wild camping and a current 16 hr 1st Aid Certificate.  Check the  link for detailed prospectus.

Our courses are Pitlochry based which provides a perfect choice of venues and helps us keep our mileage down during the course.

You can choose accommodation to suit your budget.

Link to Pitlochry tourist information centre.

Pitlochry has a wide range of accommodation – we recommend the Pitlochry SYHA  or the Backpackers Hostel which have well equipped and comfortable accommodation  within walking distance of coach and  rail routes plus shops and the  very popular   Moulin Inn.

“Hi Steve,  I thought the week was excellent and thank you for your great tutoring, guidance and patience.”   Elaine
